Missouri History Museum

:

Race: Are we so different? Race is a powerful concept that the public poorly understands. This interactive exhibit addresses this misunderstanding by allowing visitors to learn the history of race, the role of science in that history and the subtle and obtrusive expressions of race and racism in our daily lives.

Katherine Dunham: Beyond the Dance - Exhibition extended through March 8th, 2010. Katherine Dunham, orginially from East St. Louis, revolutionized modern dance blending classical movements with African and Caribbean rhythms.

"We were all swimming in the pool at our hotel in Memphis, and this older woman approached me and asked me who we were. I told her about Cultural Leadership and she said, "I was watching you all play and laugh and I thought, 'Why can't the world be like that swimming pool?'" - Class 1 alum

Our students develop leadership skills, build relationships, facilitate dialogues and create change in their circles of influence.
